Muriel Goldberg-Darmon is a partner in the firm’s Paris office. Her practice focuses on advising listed companies and their managers, investment funds, insurance companies, and financial institutions on a wide range of regulatory and compliance issues, investigations, and corporate transactions. Muriel has significant experience in investigation, control, and sanction proceedings before the French financial market authority (AMF) and the Banking Authority (ACPR), in international cooperation with foreign regulators, including the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), in cross-border investigations led by the U.S. Department of Justice (OFAC, FCPA, etc.), and others, as well as in related court proceedings. Her transactional experience spans M&A, tender offers, IPOs, and other securities issuances, and she also regularly advises on corporate governance, regulatory compliance, and financial communications matters.

She has been recognized by The Legal 500 as a Leading Individual for Stock Market Litigation. According to The Legal 500 testimonials, Muriel ‘has perfect knowledge of technical and negotiating tools’ and is ‘extremely reliable, dedicated, efficient and creative.’ She has also been recognized by The Best Lawyers in France in the Financial Institutions and Regulatory Practice categories.

Prior to joining Cohen & Gresser, Muriel was a partner at Dentons (formerly Salans) and then at DLA Piper in Paris. Muriel holds a Ph.D. on the legal aspects of the IPO, and she holds a Master’s Degree (DEA) from the University of Paris II Panthéon-Assas in law philosophy and in business and economic law. Muriel is a lecturer at HEC in Paris regarding investigation, control, and sanction proceedings before the AMF. She is fluent in French and English.

Mark S Cohen and Muriel Goldberg-Darmon served as guest lecturers at the Université Paris I – Panthéon Sorbonne for the 2017 fall semester. They taught a course titled “U.S. White Collar Criminal Law” to students in the Master 2 (JD equivalent) program. The course covered the fundamental principles of U.S. criminal law and a review of the key participants in white collar criminal practice. The course also covered substantive white collar issues, such as FCPA, banking, and finance-related issues. Jonathan S Abernethy and Christian R Everdell served as visiting lecturers. Reggie B Schafer served as the course’s teaching assistant.
