Attorneys at Cohen & Gresser work in a collegial environment. Associate assignments are based on interest and, for experienced attorneys, areas of expertise. We seek attorneys whose skills qualify them to take leadership roles in major commercial litigation and transactional work, and we encourage attorneys to work for a variety of senior lawyers and to work on several matters at a time.
Cohen & Gresser attorneys work hard, but also take time to celebrate accomplishments at a monthly wine tasting and at monthly breakfasts. The firm hosts an annual summer outing and an end of the year party, as well as informal gatherings throughout the year.
Training and Mentoring
Cohen & Gresser matters are typically staffed with one partner and a small number of associates, providing many opportunities for close supervision and hands-on experience. Frequent strategy meetings and quick turnaround on projects give associates chances to participate in critical decision-making. Senior associates regularly speak with clients and opposing counsel, negotiate transaction documents, conduct depositions and document discovery, draft pleadings, and appear before courts and agencies.
Associates are given annual evaluations based on feedback from attorneys with whom they have worked during the prior year. The firm conducts a formal training program, sponsors association memberships, and reimburses attorneys for the cost of external continuing legal education programs.
