Xu Yang is an associate in Cohen & Gresser’s New York office and is a member of the firm’s Litigation & Arbitration and White Collar Defense & Regulation practice groups. His practice focuses on complex commercial disputes in state and federal courts and internal investigations.

Xu has significant experience in all phases of litigation. He was a member of a trial team that obtained a favorable decision on behalf of an insurance company in New York Supreme Court against the administrator of a major investment bank. He also has experience drafting pleadings and dispositive briefs, including complaints, answers, summary judgment motions, and motions to dismiss; managing all aspects of discovery, including discovery requests and responses, subpoenas, and expert reports; and performing in-depth legal research and analysis.

Prior to joining the firm, Xu practiced at Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP.

Xu is a graduate of Harvard Law School, where he participated on the Harvard Journal of Sports and Entertainment Law and the Harvard International Law Journal. He earned a B.A., magna cum laude, in China & Asia Pacific Studies, as well as a B.F.A., from Cornell University.

Xu is fluent in Mandarin Chinese.
